Strategic, collaborative, innovative, and visionary are the four guiding principles utilized by SFAS when developing and managing art programs. Our approach to program development and management is outcomes and impact driven that assist organizations in overcoming challenges and meeting objectives. Success is rooted in an organizations ability to respond quickly to new opportunities, share and maximize resources, and leverage industry trends without compromising organizational values, mission, and vision. Our innovative program design is an three-tiered integrated structure that builds potential for public engagement, new revenue and fund raising streams, and public relations outreach.

Mary’s combined training in the visual arts and art administration contributes to a unique sensibility that she brings to a curatorial project. Working closely with the presenting organization to determine mission and objectives an exhibition theme is developed that is appropriate for both traditional and non traditional venues. In addition to developing a curatorial concept exhibition planning is provided such as: pubic relations and marketing strategies, identifying funding sources, and development of didactic materials.

Developing and implementing public art projects, both permanent and temporary, is a complex process that requires careful and detailed planning, clear and defined objectives, and a grounded and realistic mission. SFAS provides the expertise and knowledge needed to navigate these challenges towards achieving your project goals. Procedures, guidelines, site considerations, artists’ qualifications, and industry regulations are a few of the components included in SFAS program planning process for public art projects.

Artist in residence programs and workshops can be created for both public and private locations including schools, community and civic organizations, and business locations. Artists working in non-traditional environments can engage, enlighten, spur creative thinking and build and refine creative problem solving skills. When creating and planning artist in residence programs SFAS works closely with the host organization to determine program goals, review and select appropriate artists, determine and identify required resources to ensure that the program is a positive experience for participants, host and artists. When developing programs for the classroom SFAS considers teacher and student needs, selected artists’ qualifications, and available resources. Special attention is given to addressing academic standards and assessment, funding sources, and facilities requirements.

Special events that include an art component such as an auction, art sale, art competition, or curated exhibitions provide benefits to both participants and sponsors. Hosting and sponsoring special events can include providing free exhibition space for artists and organizations, or as part of a fund raising effort, conference, or trade show. SFAS works with event committees as part of a planning team to ensure that the art component is integrated with the event planning process including public relations, sponsor solicitations, presentation and documentation requirements.
