Art Unleashed
Raining Cats and Dogs
by Cynthia Carlson

Main Line Art Center

Art Unleashed was a public art exhibition and auction of over 50 larger-than-life size fiberglass sculptures of ART, the dog. Each sculpture was individually painted, decorated, costumed and otherwise transformed by 50 individual artists. In the summer of 2002 the dogs were exhibited in public places throughout the Main Line community. The dogs were reunited in September at the King of Prussia Mall for the main event, the Puttin' on the Dog auction. Managed by Mary Salvante, the exhibition and auction raised over $300,000, which contributed to the Main Line Art Center receiving an Arts Management award from the Arts in Business Council in 2003.
